PLR Database provides digital products under a variety of licensing arrangements. The licence attached to a product determines what you may and may not do with that particular product.

The information on this page provides a general explanation of the licence types commonly found within PLR Database.

Important Licensing Information

Licence indicators displayed on PLR Database product pages are provided as a general indication of the rights associated with a product.

You should always download and read the complete licence included with the individual product before using, modifying, selling or distributing it.

The licence included with the downloaded product takes precedence over any general description or licence indicator displayed on PLR Database.

Different authors and product creators may impose different conditions even when products use the same general licence type.

If a particular right is important to how you intend to use a product, verify that right in the included licence before proceeding.

Private Label Rights (PLR)

Private Label Rights generally provide broad rights to modify and commercially use a product.

Depending on the individual product licence, PLR may allow you to:

  • Edit or rewrite the content;
  • Change the product name or title;
  • Add your own branding;
  • Modify graphics or presentation;
  • Combine the material with other content;
  • Create derivative products;
  • Sell the resulting product;
  • Use the content within memberships or courses; and
  • In some cases, present yourself or your business as the publisher or author.

However, PLR does not automatically mean that every possible use is permitted.

Some PLR licences restrict whether you can transfer PLR rights, sell the source files, distribute the product through particular marketplaces, give the product away, or use particular components separately.

Always check the licence included with the individual product.

Master Resell Rights (MRR)

Master Resell Rights generally allow you to sell a product and provide your customers with the right to resell it.

Depending on the individual licence, you may be permitted to:

  • Sell the product;
  • Keep the revenue generated from your sales;
  • Grant Resell Rights to your customers; and
  • In some cases, grant Master Resell Rights to your customers.

Master Resell Rights do not necessarily give you permission to edit, rebrand or claim authorship of a product.

Those rights must be specifically permitted by the individual product licence.

Resell Rights (RR)

Resell Rights generally allow you to sell a product to your customers while retaining the revenue generated from those sales.

Unlike Master Resell Rights, standard Resell Rights will generally not allow your customers to obtain resale rights themselves.

This means you may be permitted to sell the product to an end customer, but that customer cannot then resell the product unless the licence specifically allows it.

Resell Rights may also require the product to remain unchanged or be sold under particular conditions.

Always refer to the individual licence.

Personal Use (PU)

Personal Use products are provided for your own individual use.

Depending on the licence, this may include:

  • Reading the material;
  • Watching or listening to the material;
  • Using the information for personal education;
  • Using supplied resources for your own purposes; and
  • Creating reasonable backup copies for your personal use.

Personal Use rights generally do not permit you to resell, redistribute, publish, sublicense or commercially distribute the product.

You should not assume that a Personal Use product may be shared with other people unless the individual licence expressly permits it.

Commercial Use (CU)

Commercial Use generally means that a product or particular component may be used for commercial purposes.

The exact commercial rights can vary significantly between products.

For example, a Commercial Use licence may permit you to:

  • Use an asset within products you create;
  • Use content within a commercial project;
  • Create products for customers or clients;
  • Sell an authorised finished product; or
  • Incorporate the material into another commercial offering.

Commercial Use does not automatically mean that you may resell the original files or transfer the licence to another person.

The included product licence determines the specific commercial rights granted.

Give Away Rights (GAR)

Give Away Rights generally allow you to distribute a product to other people without charging for it.

Depending on the licence, this may allow you to:

  • Give the product to website visitors;
  • Offer it as a free download;
  • Use it as a lead magnet;
  • Give it to email subscribers;
  • Include it as a free bonus; or
  • Otherwise distribute it without charge.

Give Away Rights do not automatically provide the right to modify the product, sell it, grant resale rights or transfer the underlying licence.

Any additional rights must be specifically permitted by the individual product licence.

Multiple Licenses

Some products may include more than one type of licence.

For example, a product could include:

or:

Master Resell Rights + Give Away Rights

Where multiple rights are provided, you should read the complete licence to understand how those rights operate together and whether any restrictions apply.

Product Components

A digital product may contain multiple components, such as:

  • eBooks;
  • Articles;
  • Videos;
  • Audio;
  • Graphics;
  • Templates;
  • Software;
  • Source files;
  • Stock images;
  • Fonts; or
  • Other third-party materials.

Do not assume that every component automatically carries the same rights as the main product.

Certain components may be governed by separate licences or third-party terms.

Third-Party Assets

Some products may contain or reference third-party assets.

These could include stock photography, fonts, software, trademarks, templates or other licensed materials.

Rights granted to the primary product do not necessarily transfer ownership or unrestricted rights to third-party assets contained within it.

Where separate third-party licensing terms are supplied, those terms must also be followed.

Trademarks and Brand Names

A PLR, MRR, RR or Commercial Use licence does not automatically grant rights to use third-party trademarks, company names, logos or other protected branding.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of a product does not improperly infringe the intellectual property rights of another party.

Licence Restrictions

Individual product licences may contain restrictions beyond the general explanations provided on this page.

For example, a licence may specify:

  • A minimum selling price;
  • Whether the product can be given away;
  • Whether PLR or resale rights can be transferred;
  • Whether the product can be added to membership sites;
  • Whether source files may be distributed;
  • Whether the product can be sold through auction or marketplace websites;
  • Whether the content may be modified;
  • Whether authorship may be claimed; or
  • How particular assets may be used.

These restrictions form part of the licence and should be followed.

Your Responsibility

It is your responsibility to review the licence accompanying each downloaded product and ensure that your intended use is permitted.

PLR Database provides licence indicators and general descriptions to help users identify products, but these should not replace reading the actual product licence.

If the product licence prohibits an activity, you should not undertake that activity simply because the general description on this page appears broader.

Licence Conflicts

If there is any difference between:

  1. The licence indicator displayed on a PLR Database product page;
  2. The general licence descriptions on this page; and
  3. The licence supplied with the downloaded product,

the licence supplied with the individual product should be treated as the controlling licence for that product.

Changes to Product Licenses

PLR Database may update the general licence categories or explanations on this page as our product collection and licensing practices evolve.

Updating this page does not automatically change the rights granted under an existing individual product licence.
